By the way, the theme here is summer...
I started this blog over the weekend, meant to update once more before today, but, alas, I didn't. Sorry, but instead I just plain old relaxed.
Or at least I tried to. With the way the Mets have been playing this season, it's been kind of hard to relax. I'm a huge fan and pretty much let them run my life, letting the way they play effect my mood positively or negatively. I'm not exactly proud, but that's just the way it is.

Beginning in late August/September, the Mets seem to have become a different team. As a Mets fan, I'm used to hardship and cheering for a mediocre team. But things should be different now. I'm not saying the Mets should be some great, World Series winning team, but they have the stuff to be. I don't really know what their problem is. Could it be that they're playing under .500 with a team filled with former Golden Gloves and All-Stars? Or is that the problem in itself? Or is their pitching just sucky and screwing them over? I think it's all of that. Their cup is running over with washed up veterans like Carlos Delgado, Pedro Martinez, Damion Easley, Moises Alou, Luis Castillo, El Duque and Fernando Tatis, just to name a few. Because of their on again/off again play they seemingly have no motivation or confidence. They certainly lack heart. Last season, their starting rotation was injury plagued and therefore burdened their pen. But this season, their starting pitchers are actually doing pretty well, with a few exceptions here and there. It doesn't help though when they pitch spectacular games and have them ruined by terrible pitching from the bullpen. The most recent game that comes to mind is Mike Pelfrey's gem late last week. Pelfrey pitched a beautiful 8+ innings with a shut-out going until Wagner came in in the ninth and blew the lead. The Mets fortunately still took the game, but it had to go into extras, stretching out the bullpen on a night that they should have gotten a break. We're just watching the same old story over and over again every night with a few, minor twists here and there.
What needs to be done to get the change that is desperately needed? New York media is all about firing skipper Willie Randolph and letting pitching coach Rick Peterson and hitting coach HoJo go along with him. I know something really needs to be done, but is this what the Mets need? A change in leadership less than half way through the season? I have mixed feelings. I feel that some sort of change could be what the Mets need, but at the same time, what if they make these changes and nothing happens? The higher-ups in the Mets organization just need to make up their mind already and stop playing games, unless they mean baseball games. Then by all means, play. We've been waiting all season.
Enough about that. I'm getting a headache.
Besides waiting up for the Mets to play tonight at 10:05 (I hate when we play in Cali), I was looking forward to watching Greek tonight on ABC Family. Buuuuut, that's not gonna happen cause some new show called The Middleman is premiering tonight. Honestly, it looks terrible. I'm not even gonna talk about it, just trust me, you don't wanna see it! It absolutely will not last. How do shows like this get put on the air, while creative and edgy shows like Veronica Mars and The Black Donnelley's get canceled. Just like the age-old question "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie-pop," the world may never know.
Onto other tv news, my favorite tv-scoop-person, Kristin Dos Santos, has recently reported on the new Office spin-off. (btw: you have no IDEA how long it took me to figure out how to make that link the way I did!) ANYWAY, according to Kristin and her sources, there are rumors flying around that Rashida Jones, who we all know as Karen Filippelli, may be starring in the new spinoff. I'd say that's good news. How could you really break up the present cast?! Good choice NBC. For once, you get a little gold star. Lately Kristin has been reporting on Lost and lots of Showtime shows, and since I'm not too into any of those, I'll wait till something good shows and I'll gave y'all the heads up.
Alrighty, that's all. Hope you Monday's started off... well? I'll be hopeful in case you don't want to be. Later bloggers...
